“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.” –Olympic Charter

The 2014 Winter Olympics started Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

The USA Hockey team in the 2014 Olympics includes players from almost every team in the NHL.  Many sources are saying that it will be hard for another team to beat the USA team because they have so many good players this year.  The forwards on the team include: Zach Parise, Max Pacioretty, Dustin Brown, Derek Stepan, Paul Statsny, Joe Pavelski, Ryan Kesler, David Backnes, Blake Wheeler, Phil Kessel, Patrick Kane, T.J. The goal tenders include Ryan Miller, Jonathan Quick, and Jimmy Howard.  Sources say, that the USA has a big chance of making it out of the group stages.  Women’s hockey starts Saturday night, but men’s hockey will take place next Wednesday.
